Ghorwane carries on the Mozambican Marrabenta music tradition, which is similar in style to Afropop. The band was formed in 1983 in Maputo, Mozambique. Ghorwane has rode out the country's stormy history, critical of the war and the political and social conditions in their homeland.

Over the years, the group has released seven albums and performed all over the world. After the catastrophic floods in 2000 in Mozambique, Ghorwane was involved in making a benefit compilation album. Part of the profits went to aid victims of the flood.

Ghorwane will perform also at the Festa Moçambicana night at Tavastia Club, Helsinki 26 May.
