SUN 24.5.2009 12:45-13:30, Savannah Stage

Eino Grön is the grand old man of Finnish schlager music. Among other things, he was named successor to Olavi Virta. A champion of Finnish music and also many times in boxing, he has released numerous recordings and toured the country's dance halls many times over.

Several legendary tango interpretations made the singer an icon early in his career. Grön has also recorded with musicians from Argentina, the home country of tango. Grön was given the 2007 Iskelmä-Finlandia lifetime achievement award.
Grön will perform with the Finlandia-Orchestra at World Village Festival. Both have a long career behind them – the singer and orchestra first recorded together 50 years ago.
