Valravn, classified as folktronica, takes the listener on a journey through Nordic forests and the deep dark waters of their soundscapes. Electronic influences merge seamlessly with traditional instruments and Anna Katrin Egilstrod’s charismatic, storyteller-like voice. Critics have described Valravn's music as balancing at a crossroads between the past and future. Due to their unique sound, the band is acclaimed as one of today’s most skilful electro-folk hybrids.

On their 2007 debut album, the band interpreted medieval Nordic folk songs. This record, full of nostalgia and yearning, earned the band three Danish Music Award nominations. The band has sought a new direction with their second album and written most of the songs themselves. Koder på snor, released in 2009, has a rougher edge to it than the previous album, and is said to be more artistic in its expression. The record has been hailed by fans and critics alike, and the band anticipates international success. Valravn will come to World Village Festival for a second time. During their first visit in 2008, they played an unforgettable gig at a full festival club at Gloria.
