Tango Orchestra Unto, a dream team of Finnish tango, has a multifaceted musical background which spans everything from folk music to jazz and theatre music to tango nuevo. One can hear the abundance of influences, sense of freedom and interpretive depth in Unto's playing. Under the direction of pianist and arranger Timo Alakotila, these virtuoso musicians take traditional Finnish tango to new dimensions with nuanced and indulgent interpretations of Unto Mononen and Toivo Kärki, among others. The orchestra's members include Pirjo Aittomäki, Johanna Juhola, Mauno Järvelä, Petri Hakala and Hannu Rantanen.
