Mad Juana
Roderick Angle
Mad Juana fuses together a Balkan sound, Spanish guitar, reggae, punk and New York rock. Their music speaks pan-continentally of revolution, diversity and magic. The band has toured extensively around Europe and The United States, playing everywhere from punk bars and theatres to Las Vegas’ street festivals and London’s art happenings.
Mad Juana’s founding members and leaders are Karmen Guy and Sami Yaffa, the latter a Finn also known as the bassist for the New York Dolls and Michael Monroe’s bands.
Mad Juana has been compared to Manu Chao and Gogol Bordello, but the band’s ability to tap into different vibes from different cultures is a novel and mind-blowing experience for the listener, bringing entirely new dimensions to world music. Mad Juana’s previous album, Bruja On The Corner, was released in 2008. They are currently adding finishing touches to their next record.
