Spanish duo Fuel Fandango bring their explosive combination of flamenco-infused rhythms and electropop to the Saturday evening of World Village Festival.
Fuel Fandango was formed in 2009 by producer and DJ Ale Acosta and singer Nita, whose background is in flamenco and copla songs. Together, the twosome has created an original mixture of pop and flamenco music based on their Spanish heritage, with echoes of old Europe permeating their songs. Aurora, their latest album, features influences picked up from a variety of locales –afrobeat, Asian cultures and Latin American folk tradition.
Fuel Fandango enjoys great popularity in their native Spain, and their fan base has grown to span all of Europe. The duo’s collaborators include people like Jamie Cullum and Duncan Mills, whose producing credits include work with Florence and the Machine. Aurora was produced by Steve Dub, who is known for his work with acts like The Chemical Brothers, New Order and The Prodigy.
