  • Sun 28.5.2017 18.00–19.00 Savannah Stage

Singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno’s expressive voice and ability to smoothly flow between different genres of music, from blues rock to bolero and bossa nova, have earned her praise from both music critics and audiences. Moreno was recognised as the Best New Artist by the Latin Grammy Awards

and her latest album Ilusión, released this spring, was nominated as the year’s best Latin pop album. Songs written by her have also been nominated for both Latin Grammy and Emmy awards.

A resident of the US, Moreno draws from the musical tradition of her native Guatemala and fuses it with jazz, folk and blues. On Ilusión, Moreno returns to the early stages of her career, when she was a fresh immigrant and only getting her start as an artist. The song Fronteras in particular reaches out to those who have immigrated to another country and left everything they know behind to chase their dreams.

Gaby Moreno's interview will be held on Taiga Stage on May 28 at 14.20-14.40. The interview is in English.
