Dashed Hopes photo exhibition shows the consequences of the use of cheap raw materials, such as palm oil and coal.

The effects of palm oil production are visible, especially in Indonesia where the forests, the habitat of orangutans are cleared for palm oil plantations. The touching pictures of Dilla Djali Daniel (IDN) about homeless orangutans have inspired protectors of endangered species all around the world.

In the photos of Sebastian Sardi (SWE) one can witness the living conditions of villagers in big coal-producing countries, who live in areas covered in coal dust and breathe the toxic air. In the “coal capital” of India’s Dhanbad, residents in pictures show dignity and beauty, instead of suffering.
